۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 “And stop them they are to be questioned.” 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
