۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
