۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 on couches facing each other. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 What then, shall we not die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
