۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
