۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
