۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What then, shall we not die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
