(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning), 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 and We established for him a good name among posterity. 78 Peace be on Nuh among the worlds. 79 Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.). 82 ۞ Of his party was also Abraham; 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 When he said to his father (paternal uncle) and his people, “What do you worship?” 85 Is it a falsehood - gods beside Allah - that ye desire? 86 “So what do you assume regarding the Lord Of The Creation?” (That He will not punish you?) 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 and said, "Verily, I am sick [at heart]!" 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said: 'What do you eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, “Construct a building (furnace) for him, and then cast him in the blazing fire!” 97 They had contrived an evil plan against him, but We abased them all. 98 (Abraham) said, "I will go to my Lord who will guide me". 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead, 103 And We called out to him, “O Ibrahim!” 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 for, behold, all this was indeed a trial, clear in itself. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 and left for him among the later folk 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 He was one of Our believing worshipers. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
