So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
