Jonah too was one of the messengers. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 that they shall receive Our help 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 and see them [for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
