S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 Never did we hear of [a claim like] this in any faith of latter days! It is nothing but [a mortal man's] invention! 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 But there - will be put to flight even a host of confederates. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
