SAY [O Muhammad]: "I am only a warner; and there is no deity whatever save God, the One, who holds absolute sway over all that exists, 65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Mighty, the Pardoning. 66 Say: “This is a tiding of tremendous import 67 [how can] you turn away from it?" 68 I had no knowledge of the High Council when they disputed. 69 It has not been revealed to me except that I am a clear warner." 70 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to create a human being out of clay; 71 So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration." 72 Then the angels, all of them, prostrated themselves before Adam 73 Except Iblis; he was proud and was, from the beginning, a disbeliever. 74 [Allah] said, "O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?" 75 Answered [Iblis]: "I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, whereas him Thou hast created out of clay." 76 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 77 “And indeed My curse is upon you till the Day of Judgement.” 78 He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected." 79 The Lord said, "You will only be given a respite 80 Until the day of the time appointed. 81 (Iblis) said: “By Your glory, I shall mislead them all 82 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 83 [And God] said: "This, then, is the truth! And this truth do I state: 84 I shall assuredly fill Gehenna with thee, and with whosoever of them follows thee, all together.' 85 Say: 'I ask of you no wage for it, neither am I of those who take things upon themselves. 86 It is but a reminder to the worlds. 87 You will come to know its truth in time." 88
