Could, then, one whose bosom God has opened wide with willingness towards self-surrender unto Him, so that he is illumined by a light [that flows] from his Sustainer, [be likened to the blind and deaf of heart]? Woe, then, unto those whose hearts are hardened against all remembrance of God! They are most obviously lost in error! 22 Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide. 23 So will he who will not have a shield except his own face against the wretched punishment on the Day of Resurrection, ever be equal to one who is forgiven? And it will be said to the unjust, “Taste what you have earned!” 24 Their predecessors gave the lie to the Truth and then chastisement came upon them from whence they could not imagine. 25 God made them suffer humiliation in this life. Would that they knew that the torment for them in the next life will be even greater. 26 We have given examples of every kind for men in this Qur'an so that they may contemplate: 27 a Quran in Arabic, free from any ambiguity -- so that people may be mindful. 28 Allah coineth a similitude: A man in relation to whom are several part-owners, quarrelling, and a man belonging wholly to one man. Are the two equal in similitude? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not. 29 Lo! thou wilt die, and lo! they will die; 30 In the end will ye (all), on the Day of Judgment, settle your disputes in the presence of your Lord. 31
