Did you not see those who dispute concerning Allah's Signs? Whence are they, then, being turned astray? 69 Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,- 70 When iron collars will be rounded over their necks, and the chains, they shall be dragged along. 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 It will then be asked of them: 'Where are those whom you associated, 73 Beside Allah? They will say: they have failed us; aye! we have not been calling upon aught afore. Thus doth Allah lead the infidels astray. 74 That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error). 75 So enter the gates of Hell to abide in it for ever." How evil the abode of the arrogant! 76 So be thou patient; surely God's promise is true. Whether We show thee a part of that We promise them, or We call thee unto Us, to Us they shall be returned. 77 We did aforetime send messengers before thee: of them there are some whose story We have related to thee, and some whose story We have not related to thee. It was not (possible) for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of Allah: but when the Command of Allah issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice, and there perished, there and then those who stood on Falsehoods. 78
