Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
