The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
