Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
89 verses, revealed in Mecca after Consultation (Al-Shooraa) before Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
