And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 36 And indeed those devils prevent them from the Straight Path, and they think they are on guidance! 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 (He will then be told): “Today it will not benefit you the least that after your wrong-doing you and your satans now share the chastisement.” 39 Can you (O Muhammad SAW) make the deaf to hear, or can you guide the blind or him who is in manifest error? 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold thou fast unto that which has been revealed unto thee; surely thou art upon a straight path. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
