Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Clear Book; 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
