And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people, “I have no relation whatsoever with your deities.” 26 Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me." 27 He made this an abiding word among his descendants, in order that they would return. 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 but when the truth came to them, they said, "This is sorcery, and we reject it." 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend. 33 And for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And ornaments of gold. Yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world. And the Hereafter with your Lord would have been for those who keep from evil. 35
