And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 And it will profit you not today, because ye have done wrong, that ye are in the torment sharers. 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
