Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 These people say, 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.” 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
