We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
