and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
