We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We did not create them except in truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
