Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
