Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
