The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
