AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
