Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
