Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
