Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
