Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
