The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the House Frequented. 4 The roof raised high, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
