The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and the Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the roof exalted, 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
