The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
