The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
