The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
