The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
