The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
