Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Do they say: "He is a poet for whom we expect an adverse turn of fortune?" 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief). 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Did they come into being without any creator? Or were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or have they a ladder by which they could [ascend to ultimate truths and] listen [to what is beyond the reach of human perception]? Let, then, any of them who have listened [to it] produce a manifest proof [of his knowledge]! 38 Or has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
