The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
