EXHORT, then, [O Prophet, all men:] for, by thy Sustainer's grace, thou art neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and earth? Nay, but they have not sure faith. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
