The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
