The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
