The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
