The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, 7 He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
