(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
