The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
