The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
