The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
